[00:00:00] Hey, and welcome to episode 62 of the podcasting Simplified Podcast. My name is Ross and today

[00:00:08] we're going to talk about podcast music and jingles and all that stuff. But first, you

[00:00:14] may have noticed that I have a new new cover art for the podcast but I also have a new logo

[00:00:20] on podcast insights dot com. And it kind of all ties together and I just had that created

[00:00:27] I don't know, weaker to go and I think it's kind of nice nice update and imagine some

[00:00:32] of the existing colors that I already had on the website. So if you, if you notice that,

[00:00:39] yes, it's new and it's still the same, same show, same website, everything. And yeah,

[00:00:46] so let's talk about royalty free music and sound effects for podcasts and videos or whatever

[00:00:53] else you need. All those, all these websites basically will care to all your needs for audio

[00:01:00] and just so you know, I have a special deal for shutter stock and you can get 10% off any

[00:01:08] plans or whether that's a unlimited music subscription or just a single track and get 10% off

    [00:01:15] by using the code insights that's INS I G H T S when you check out the DLC. There's a little,

[00:01:22] a little do you have a coupon code? You'll click that and then put in the code and it'll be applied.

[00:01:27] So we'll talk about shutter stock in a second, but I just want to let you know about that

[00:01:33] deal up front and I'll put it in the show notes as well.

[00:01:36] So the first one we're going to mention is premium beat and they're actually

[00:01:42] owned by shutter stock as well. And so premium beat is personally my favorite source for royalty free

[00:01:48] music and royalty free means you can use it as much as you want. You don't have to pay licensing fees

[00:01:55] to someone and you don't have to worry about getting sued or anything crazy like that.

[00:02:00] And also on that point, a lot of people ask me, can I use music in my podcasts that's

[00:02:07] maybe on the radio or kind of common stuff? And the answer is no, you can't.

[00:02:14] And you know, people say what about if I only include a clip or you know, only a couple of seconds

[00:02:19] and still the answer is no. Just don't do it. Your best bet is to just purchase some music from one of these websites

[00:02:25] and not have to worry about that. So like I said, first one is premium beat.

[00:02:31] And one of the cool features they have is that there's a collection section where you can find

[00:02:36] hand curated tracks by them for different uses uses. So like music for food blogs or game day for

[00:02:44] like a kind of pump up type thing or action packed tracks and they have new music section every month

[00:02:52] and all kinds of stuff. So that's a great way just to get started and maybe find something that fits

[00:02:57] for you, you can search by genre or mood and browse around and

[00:03:03] have a great player. You can choose different, different amounts of time.

[00:03:06] And I would just highly recommend checking it out and just kind of browsing and experimenting.

[00:03:12] You'll find some cool stuff. And I believe tracks are $49 a piece.

[00:03:17] So next one is shutter stock. And like I mentioned earlier, we have a special deal if you use the

[00:03:22] coupon code insights for 10% off anything. And so shutter stock, you might know them for their photos

[00:03:30] or maybe there are footage section, which is for videos making maybe YouTube videos or

[00:03:36] promo videos or something. But they recently came out with an unlimited music subscription for $199

[00:03:44] per year. So then you can get whatever tracks you want if you want to be able to change things up

[00:03:50] or add in different segments and stuff. This is a great value. And maybe if you want to also have

[00:03:58] music for YouTube videos, if you're doing both, this is a great way to go. They specifically say

[00:04:02] you can use it for podcasting business, social media. So no worries there. And they also do have

[00:04:08] the ability for you to get single track licenses for $49 that you can use for podcasting as well.

[00:04:14] And similar to premium beat, they have a great kind of interface and search features.

[00:04:22] And you can sort by all kinds of different stuff, links, beats per minute, moods, you name it.

[00:04:28] So definitely check it out. And if you do use that coupon, you can get the unlimited music

[00:04:36] subscription. So 10% off of $199 actually rounds up to $20 off for the year. So that's a pretty cool

[00:04:45] pretty cool discount you can get. And the next website is in Compotex. So this is home to

[00:04:51] thousands of creative commons tracks that are free to use for a link. So you just maybe insert

[00:04:56] a link in your show notes or on your website back to them. And they also paid for paid for licenses

[00:05:02] are also available if you don't want to give credit to. And so there's a tons of different

[00:05:10] songs and tracks that you probably have heard of. So it's kind of cool. It's one of the most

[00:05:16] popular places for free music. And now we have Silverman Sound Studios. And this is a real high quality,

[00:05:22] 100% free to use. And just for the price of a credit similar to the the in Compotex,

[00:05:29] you just need to kind of link back to them or mention them in your in your podcast. And then

[00:05:34] you can use it free. And you can also use it. They also have a paid option as well if you don't

[00:05:40] want to do that. Now we have Pixabay music. So this is from the stock photography site Pixabay.

[00:05:45] And Pixabay music is a new offering from them to get tracks and you can filter by again genre,

[00:05:51] mood, movement, things like that. So it's a great great way to go. I would check that out. And those

[00:05:58] are free right now next is the free music archive which collects music from hundreds of different

[00:06:03] artists around the world. And if you're looking for maybe an intro music, there's thousands of

[00:06:07] tracks to choose from like the name would suggest they're all totally free to use. Now we have audio

[00:06:14] notics and they have a decent amount of background music and it's free to use with a credit back

[00:06:21] to them. The interface isn't the best, you know, doesn't compare to some of the others but you know

[00:06:27] if you want something free might be another place to go take a look at next is purple planet

[00:06:31] and has loads of tracks that are easy to search. They do bundles which is kind of cool so

[00:06:38] if you need like a theme, if you have like a seasonal theme, you can get bundles of different

[00:06:43] tracks that kind of go together and they're free for credit or you can pay a small fee to

[00:06:48] license them without giving them credit. So kind of a common theme with a lot of the free ones

[00:06:55] is they're looking for for links or money I guess. Next is icons 8 which is popular icons

[00:07:05] place but they have music as well and so they have a 320 kilobyte per second MP3 tracks which is

[00:07:12] so real high quality and those are available for free if you give them credit with a link back

[00:07:18] and if you want wavefile so even higher quality then and you don't need to give them credit

[00:07:23] you'll pay $20 a month to get access to that so a couple options there. Just going to highlight

[00:07:28] a couple others audio jungle free pd pond five zapsplat free sound sound bible and I think that

[00:07:37] rounds out the different ones there are many others that you can find but like I said earlier

[00:07:45] definitely don't just use music without making sure that it's royalty free which means that

[00:07:50] you're not going to get sued if you one of the music publishers finds out you're using it

[00:07:56] and this actually has happened there are some websites that or podcasts that have been sued

[00:08:02] because they refuse to stop using music that wasn't licensed properly so I just just a warning

[00:08:09] be careful there again my favorites are premium beat and shutter stock so be sure and check

[00:08:15] those out and I'll have links in the description if you want to learn more
